The demo
The demo on our home page runs in your web browser, on your own device. The trade you pick, the name and colours you choose, and anything you type into the example app stay on your device. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else. So that a reload, the Back button or a trip to your email does not lose your work, your browser keeps your design and what you type into the start form in that tab’s own storage, on your device. No other tab or website can read it, it is never sent anywhere, and your browser deletes it when you close the tab. “Clear the demo” deletes it straight away. We use no cookies.
The same goes for your own spreadsheet, logo or photos, if you try them. The file is read by your browser. It is not uploaded, we never see it, and it is not kept, not even in that tab: reload the page and you would choose it again. A logo you try is kept in the tab with your design, until you close the tab.
Every name, phone number and email address in our examples is made up.
When you start a free month
The button that sends us your design writes the message for you, then lets you choose how to send it: Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo or your own email app open with it already filled in, or you can copy and paste it into any other email, such as Proton Mail. You read every word before you send it. That message holds the business name, your name and (if you gave one) the phone number you typed into the form, and it describes the app you designed: the trade, its name and colour, what it records and its stages. The form itself sends nothing: what you type is kept only in that browser tab, as described above. It does not contain any of the example records, or anything from a spreadsheet you tried.
When you press send, we receive your email address and that message, plus anything you chose to add. We use them only to set up your app and to reply to you. We do not sell them, share them for marketing, or add you to a mailing list. If nothing comes of it, we delete the message within 12 months.
When you use your app
The records you and your team put in your app are kept on our server in the UK, with a copy taken every day. They belong to you. We look after them for you and use them only to run your app: we do not read them except to help when you ask us to, and we never sell or share them. You can download everything at any time from your app's menu: every record, photo and receipt, and your accounts, in one file.
Each person who signs in has their own login. Passwords are stored only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the password. Signing in sets one cookie, which keeps you signed in and is used for nothing else.
Some emails come from the app itself: a link to set a new password when you ask for one, and, if you leave it switched on, a morning email saying what needs doing. We also email you about your app and your account. We send no marketing emails unless you ask for them. So that we can answer “did my email arrive?”, we keep a list of the emails the app sends: when, to which address, the subject, and whether it went. Not what they said. Each entry is deleted after 90 days.
Problems you report, changes you ask for and messages you send us from inside your app are kept with your app, so you and we can see what was asked and what we replied. They are deleted with the rest of your app.
If you do not continue after your free month, or stop paying, your app is deleted completely one month later: one month after the free month ends, or one month after the payment was due. Until then it is read-only, so you can still download everything, and we remind you before it happens. Everything goes: records, photos, logins and website. The owner can also delete the app straight away from its menu (Delete this app), or ask us to. Copies in our backups are removed within a further 30 days.
Websites we make for our customers
A business that uses Kerching can have a one-page website made by us. If you send an enquiry through one of those websites, your name, contact details and message go to that business, into its app, and the business is emailed to say so. The business decides what to do with your enquiry; we hold it for them. These pages set no cookies and use no trackers. To ask about your details, contact the business, or us at the address below.
Your customers' pages, payments and reminders
When a business sends you a link to your quote or invoice, the page shows what that business holds about that piece of work: the paperwork, and photos of the work if it chooses. If you accept a quote, we keep the name you type and the date. If you pay by card, you pay on Stripe's own page: we never see your card number, only that it was paid. If the business asks us to, we email you reminders about an overdue invoice for it. For all of this we act for the business, which is responsible for your information.
Face ID, notifications and receipts
Signing in with Face ID or a fingerprint uses a key kept on your phone; your face and fingerprint never leave it, and we keep only a matching public key. Phone notifications are delivered, encrypted, by your phone's own push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla). Receipt photos are read on your phone itself, not sent anywhere to be read.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. The fonts and scripts are served from this site, so your browser is not sent to third parties. The page also carries an instruction, called a Content Security Policy, that tells your browser to block it from sending data anywhere.
Like every website, the company that hosts this site keeps routine server logs, such as the time of a visit and the visitor’s IP address, to keep the service secure and running.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@welcomeapps.co.uk and we will deal with it promptly.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
